First Internet Service over Electrical Wiring Installed

Ramtech has installed its first high speed Internet service on a caravan park using the electrical distribution network as the backbone for the system. The installation is at Three Rivers Caravan Park near Clitheroe.

The signal is "injected" into the main Electrical Distrbution Board on the park and repeated around the park through sub distribution boards. Owners and park visitors access the Internet through a simple client device located in each caravan which they can plug directly into a laptop or other device.

Ramtech's Business Development Director, Gary Frith, commented "this kind of technology is particularly suited to Parks that are not easily serviced by a WiFi type network, for example Parks that have significant tree coverage. Some Park owners also want to avoid the need to erect antennas around their Park."

"We are finding a number of new competitors entering the market with different technologies and business models, but we believe that what makes us different is that we have a flexible range of offerings and work with the Park to identify the most appropriate solution for their individual requirements."

The company is currently in the process of installing five other Internet networks using electrical distribution systems as well as a large number of conventional WiFi networks.
