Wi-Fi provides holiday parks with a number of benefits according to Andy Hicks, managing director of wireless communications systems specialist, Ramtech.Wi-Fi is a technology that uses high frequency radio signals to transmit and receive data over distances of a few hundred meters. Wi-Fi networks can be deployed to enable any Wi-Fi compatible device, such as laptops, phones and gaming consoles, to connect to the internet.
Often holiday parks with Wi-Fi facilities are popular choices when holiday makers are choosing their holiday destination as it allows them to keep in touch with friends, family and the office.
Providing Wi-Fi facilities can also benefit park owners from a business point of view, as it means people are likely to spend more time and money at the park.
Internet access allows people to get information on local events and attractions as well as to check the weather, traffic and travel. It also enables people to use the internet as they would in the comfort of their own home; allowing them to access emails, shop online, download films and use Skype and a multitude of social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter.
Furthermore, on-park internet access is a must have for business people who need to remain in contact with their work emails and even connect to remote business systems by a secure VPN (Virtual Private Network) connection.
Internet Protocol, or more commonly called ‘IP', enabled devices can connect to a safe and secure Park owned network. This network can be implemented over a wired or wireless infrastructure or a combination of both. Additionally by using Powerline technology, which injects data signals on to copper power cables, an IP network can be installed on a park's existing mains power infrastructure.
"These networks are not only useful to park guests but also the parks themselves," said Andy. "The use of networks can benefit the park by providing additional IP network services and can ensure greater park security; these services include CCTV, building-to-building links, IP-enabled barriers, information-points, IP tills and portable devices to encourage park staff communications. The deployment of Wi-Fi networks is now a key business stream for us. Also the use of wireless and IP networks benefits not only customers but overall park efficiency and safety."
Ramtech was founded in 1990 with a specific focus on the holiday park market. The company provides a variety of different commercial models to fit with the needs and cash flow requirements of the park.
